


Sample Itinerary 2: Walkers Paradise
Four Days Walkers Paradise
Day 1
- Afternoon arrival at Lake Brunner Lodge, take lakeside boardwalk walk to Bain Bay, 2hrs return
- 5pm walk waterfall track with the staff, witness ancient Rimu and Matai trees enroute, Carew falls as well as the hydro power scheme intake.
Day 2
- Head to Paparoa National Park including Punakaiki Pancake Rocks, take packed lunch and map for Pororari/Punakaiki River Loop Track, approximately 3hrs round trip through lush almost subtropical vegetation and limestone river canyons. Or for something a little easier the Truman track to the beach is very rewarding. The Punakaiki Cavern is also worth a visit. Check tide times to see Punakaiki Rocks and blowholes at their best. For experienced walkers and climbers there are also full day walks and rewarding advanced hiking.
Day 3
- Trek up nearby Mt Te Kinga through dense rainforest on a new track for excellent views over Lake Brunner, climbing just over 1000m to the top(5hrs return).
Day 4
- Morning rest, optionally take an inspiring helicopter flight among the alps. Then head to Arthur's Pass National Park, there are numerous alpine and waterfall tracks to explore the flora and landforms of the area. There is some advanced climbing here too.
