Day 1

Trolling is the most relaxed form of fishing, suitable for beginners and can be very rewarding. Some local charter boats are also set up for casting, for the more experienced. With information from your guide, take in your surroundings, learn about the plentiful Brown Trout, Lake Brunner and its rivers. This will inspire your next few days in the region.
Day 2
- Morning: Fish the hauntingly beautiful Orangipuku river delta, 10 minutes from the Lake Brunner lodge along our “driveway” Mitchell’s road. This river is picturesque and especially good when lake levels are lower, a sunny day will mean you can spot the trout and cast to them in shallow water. This is a good place to keep beginners interested while they learn the craft, and provides exciting times for the more experienced angler. The river mouth can be fished from a boat, short walks up river quickly find both deep pools and shallow sections.
- Afternoon: Take a packed lunch and continue to fish from the shore of Lake Brunner, there are several rivers and shallow bays to choose from. A little further afield are Grey River, Ahaura river and Crooked river all well know fishing rivers with vastly different landscapes, clarity and shorelines. Reasonable fitness may be required to access the best.
Day 3
- Now that you’ve tested the local Browns, get a “back country” experience or the try nearby Tasman Sea. Helicopter charters for Fishing and Hunting access some beautiful and remote locations, each guide has secret spots and a unique experience. A real test is fishing the coastal waters of the West Coast, surf casting from a beach, inshore or deep sea fishing are wild experiences to treasure, bring a camera to record the evidence, your friends may not believe the tales you return home with.
