HokitikaHeading south from the Lake Brunner Eco Lodge takes you to Hokitika. This area offers a range of activities and is known for its greenstone (or jade / pounamu). Many greenstone carving studios can be found here. Check out the National Kiwi Centre where you can get up close and personal with kiwi, tuatara, 200 year old eels and many more living icons of the West Coast.
The Hokitika Gorge is a must visit if you head this way. Enjoy a short walk along the gorge through native podocarp forest. The Tree Top Walk is also another great attraction to experience while on the West Coast. |
