Grade: Easy

Step into a mossy, magical world with tailraces and tunnels carved by gold miners over a century ago. The Woods Creek Track offers an enchanting walk through regenerated forest and gives visitors a glimpse into the region’s gold mining history.

Bring a torch! Some of the tunnels are dark and narrow, adding a bit of adventure to your journey. This is our favourite track in the area.

 

Mount Te Kinga Track: Epic Views Await

Distance from Lodge: 30 minutes drive to Iveagh Bay carpark

Duration: 3–8 hours return

Grade: Easy to Hard

The Mount Te Kinga Track is a must. Starting gently through the forest and leading to the second lookout is a great 3-hour return walk. Then the track becomes steep and is better suited to experienced trampers, demanding as it climbs to the summit. Your reward? 360-degree panoramic views of Lake Brunner, the Southern Alps, and the Tasman Sea on a clear day.

Hokitika Gorge Walk: Iconic Turquoise Waters

Starting at the Arnold Power Station, this track takes you alongside the river through beautiful bush to the historic dam. It's a quiet, meditative trail perfect for photographers and nature lovers.
