1. The West Coast Wilderness Trail

Distance from Lodge: 45 minutes to Greymouth starting point.

This 133 kilometer trail is one of the West Coast’s most iconic rides. Starting in Greymouth and winding its way to Ross, the trail offers a perfect blend of stunning landscapes, rich history, and challenging terrain. You can tackle the entire trail over several days or choose a section that suits your skill level. The trail takes you through lush forests, along historic gold mining routes, and past pristine lakes and rivers, making it a must-do for any biking enthusiast visiting the West Coast.

2. The Old Ghost Road

Distance from Lodge: 2 hours

For the more adventurous, The Old Ghost Road is a legendary 85 kilometer trail that is not for the faint-hearted. This backcountry trail links the old dray road in the Lyell (Upper Buller Gorge) to the mighty Mokihinui River in the north. It offers a rugged and remote experience with steep climbs, exhilarating descents, and some of the most breathtaking views of the West Coast wilderness. Distance from Lodge: 2 hours

The Paparoa Track is New Zealand's newest Great Walk and is also open to mountain bikers. This is a tough ride and should not be underestimated. This 55 kilometer trail offers a stunning journey through the Paparoa National Park, with lush rainforests, alpine tops, and dramatic limestone landscapes. The track is a one-way journey from Blackball to Punakaiki, and while it's a challenging ride, the scenery is well worth the effort. 4, Lake Brunner Scenic Trail

Distance from Lodge: 35 minutes to current starting point at Moana,

The Lake Brunner Scenic Trail is a journey through the pristine native forest on the western shore of Lake Brunner. The trail is not fully completed yet, but you can currently ride from Moana to Bains Bay. When the trail is fully completed, it will go from Mitchells to Moana. This will be great for guests staying at Lake Brunner Eco Lodge, as it can be accessed right on our doorstep once completed.
